Sinister Dexter

Sinister Dexter is a strip in British comic book 2000 AD, created by Dan Abnett and David Millgate. Set in the near future, it features the exploits of gun sharks (hitmen) Finnigan "Finny" Sinister and Ramone "Ray" Dexter in the city of Downlode, sprawled across Central Europe "like a hit and run victim". Occasional stories have taken place in other cities, or off planet.

The story line at the end of 2005 (over the installments "...and Death shall have no dumb minions" and "Festive Spirits") seems to suggest that the deadly duo are now just dead. However, this hasn't stopped more takes from appearing in the Judge Dredd Megazine so it appears that more tales, sometime in the future, can not be ruled out.

This issue has now been addressed in passing as part of the twist in the, initially apparently unconnected, series Malone.

[edit] Finnigan Sinister

Finnigan Rapunzel Sinister is an Irish hitman and one of the partner of Ramone Dexter in the series. Known to be superstitious, he is also married.

After he survived the showdown with his boss, he changed his face taking drugs to try to forget his past and fled offworld to Generica. It wasn't until Rocky Rhodes told him of his true identity that he returned to Downlode City to get revenge on Apellido making sure he knows that hes now alive.

Ramone Algonquin Winnibago Dexter is a Spanish hitman and one of the partners of Finnigan Sinister in the series. Known to be a "fashion guru" and womanizer, he was once convinced that he was guilty in "a series of brutal murders" ( it took his partner to solve the case).

After trying to stop his partner from getting revenge on their boss, he was apparently shot dead by his girlfriend, a cop. It was recently (Dec. 2006) revealed that he survived the shooting but was rendered quadriplegic.

• Sinister Dexter is a play on words; in Latin sinister means 'on the left side' and dexter means 'on the right side'.

• The initial inspiration for Sinister Dexter came from Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta's characters in Pulp Fiction. However Dexter is designed to look like Wesley Snipes.
