Sinha is a common surname in Northern India.It is mainly used by Kayastha as well as Bhumihar Brahmins, Rajputs, and Kurmis.

Sinha in Orissa and Southern West Bengal, is also a shortened version of the surname Singhamahapatra. This is a Brahmin surname
