Singapore Paranormal Investigators
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Singapore Paranormal Investigators (SPI, also known as the Society of Paranormal Investigators, Singapore) are a group of researchers based in Singapore who specialise in paranormal and anomalous phenomena. SPI started out as a small interest group in June 2001. Currently, SPI is the first and only officially registered paranormal society in Singapore, since 18 May 2005.
Because of SPI's multi-angle, rationale and scientific approach in its investigations of paranormal cases, SPI has gained much international media attention over the years.
SPI is also well-known for its arsenal of gadgets and investigative equipment, which are mainly constructed, assembled and modified by its own pool of Specialists from their very own Gadgets and Technology Research Department.
As part of SPI's continuous effort to educate and introduce paranormal issues to the general public, the society's Tour Department has organised many tours, known as "ghoulish trails" for locals as well as visiting tourists.
In one of the latest formal events to commemorate the Total Defence Day, SPI was invited by the National Archives of Singapore to conduct demonstrations of its investigative capabilities at the well-known Bukit Chandu and Old Ford Motor Factory.
SPI also periodically produces 3G video clips on its investigations which is available via Singtel. Several of the video clips have also been featured on Straits Times STOMP.
[edit] Mission
The mission of Singapore Paranormal Investigators (SPI) is in fourfold:
- To create opportunities for the exchange of ideas on issues exploring paranormal research in our community.
- To encourage group participation and discussion promoting better methods and understanding of paranormal research.
- To advance the professional and personal development of those who assist in it.
- To contribute our knowledge and research results cultivated through SPI to those in need in our community in return.
SPI's goal is to gather and collect data that will lead to a better understanding of all paranormal instances such as ghosts and haunting. In the process of pursuing that goal, SPI also wish to aid any individuals having problems dealing with or understanding a situation. They hope to do this by educating them as to the true nature of their situation and giving them the information and understanding to create a livable resolution for the person and the spirit.
SPI are open minded to all sensible theories and methods as this is still not an exact science. Everyone in the field of supernatural research learns as they go. They will collect the necessary proof and field-tested theories that are vital to bringing the subject of paranormal research into the mainstream.
[edit] Objectives
- To continuously gather scientific data by means of experimentations and conducting investigations to better understand paranormal phenomena.
- To continue researching other studies to gain a broad perspective on possible theories and innovative data collection techniques.
- To continue to uphold the integrity which SPI has attained by means of giving accurate information, a genuine interest to helping those in need.
