"Sing for the Moment" is a song, released in 2003 by American rapper Eminem that features a sample from rock group Aerosmith that can be heard on Eminem's CD The Eminem Show, released in 2002. It is one of his most lyrically praised singles. The song is about rap's effect on society and the misunderstanding that uninformed critics and parents have towards his message. The song samples "Dream On" by Aerosmith in its chorus and intro. Joe Perry of Aerosmith plays the guitar solo at the end of the song, and Steven Tyler sings the songs chorus.

Eminem uses the song to refute critics who have accused him of promoting violence to young people. Eminem says that committing a crime is ultimately up to the offender:

They say music can alter moods and talk to you
well can it load a gun up for you, and cock it too?
Well if it can, then the next time you assault a dude
just tell the judge it was my fault and I'll get sued

He also explains that his music has an advantage to young people, claiming that his music is a relief from boredom and depression:

That's why we sing for these kids who don't have a thing
Except for a dream and a fucking rap magazine
Who post pinup pictures on their walls all day long
Idolize their favorite rappers and know all they songs
Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in they lives
So they sit and they cry at night, wishing they'd die
'Till they throw on a rap record, and they sit and they vibe
We're nothin' to you, but we the fuckin' shit in they eyes

Eminem's altercation with Bouncer John Guerrera is also referenced in this line

You're full of shit too, Guererra
That was a fist that hit you!

The song reached #14 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, #6 on the UK Singles Chart, and #5 on the Australian ARIAnet Singles Chart. Interesting enough that it was 30 years ago that the song Dream On to which this samples, was released and charted on the hot 100.

"Sing For the Moment" was later released on Eminem's greatest hits album, Curtain Call: The Hits.
