Simone Ovide was the wife of Haitian dictator François "Papa Doc" Duvalier (1907-1971). Ovide was a trained nurse and was introduced to Francois Duvalier by friends. She bore him two daughters and a son (Jean-Claude Duvalier). Following her son to France in 1986, she died in relative poverty in the Parisian suburbs in 1998.
