Simon and Garfunkel first released a Greatest Hits album on 14 June 1972, covering their heyday of 1965–1970. It peaked on the US charts at #5. In the UK, it was a # 2 hit. The album, a unique mix of original hits and live recordings of hits, has proven a long and durable seller, currently being certified for 14 million units sold in the US alone. In 2003, the album was ranked number 293 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
