Simon Travis (born 23 March 1977 in Preston) is an English footballer who currently plays for Hereford United. He can play on both the right and left sides in a full-back or midfield role.
He started his career in the Football League with a season at Division Three side Torquay United. He then spent two seasons in Division One at Stockport with the majority of his first team appearances being as a substitute. After leaving Stockport he spent a total of seven seasons in the Conference with Telford, Forest Green and Stevenage, combining football with his studies at university.
He joined Hereford in February 2004 as defensive cover. His signing coincided with the beginning of an 11 game unbeaten run in the Conference although the team missed out on promotion. The following season he was a regular at full-back and scored on the first day of the season. However the summer of 2005 was not a good time for Travis. Hereford went out of the playoffs in the semi finals and then he sustained a serious injury while playing for England in the Four Nations Tournament. He suffered a collapsed lung and broken ribs which put him out of action for several months. Once he returned he played a key role in a team that won promotion to the Football League via the playoffs. In the final itself he played on the right wing and supplied the cross that led to Guy Ipoua's equalising goal. He re-signed for Hereford on a 1 year contract soon afterwards.
This season he started 16 out of the first 17 matches before suffering a hamstring injury. In his absence the team switched successfully to a new formation and Travis was kept out of the starting XI by the effectiveness of Purdie and Jeannin in the wing-back positions. However he has since returned to the starting XI, filling in particularly at left back. He was voted Player of the Month for January.
