Simon Marmion

Marmion, Simon (born circa 1425 at Amiens, France, died 1489) was a Netherlandish painter.

Simon Marmion, called a prince of manuscript illumination, was active in Amiens, Lille, Tournai, and Valenciennes. First documented in 1449. His masterpiece the Grandes Chroniques de France, is now in the Russian National Library, St Petersburg. The illuminated manuscript The Visions of Tondal in Getty Museum is attributed to him.
