Simon Baruch Middle School 104

Simon Baruch Middle School 104 is a public secondary school located in Lower Manhattan in the New York City borough (New York City) of Manhattan.

Baruch, which serves grades 6 through 8, is a part of the New York City Department of Education. Baruch is now one of the top Middle Schools in New York City. Baruch gets about 6000 applicants for only about 333 spots.

Baruch serves much of Lower Manhattan, including Stuyvesant Town, Peter Cooper Village, Gramercy Park, Turtle Bay, Murray Hill, Chelsea, Greenwich Village, Battery Park City.

Baruch opened in 1954 as a junior high school for grades 7 through 9 on the former Women's Lying In Hospital [1].

In 1996, the school district converted Baruch to a middle school and expanded its zoning boundary to cover Chelsea and Battery Park.

Simon Baruch Middle School has a graduation rate of 98.6%. Many students are admitted to high schools such as Brooklyn Technical High School, Baruch College Campus High School, Bronx High School of Science, Stuyvesant High School, Millennium High School, Pace University High School, Eleanor Roosevelt High School, LaGuardia High School for Performing Arts, School of the Future, New York City Lab School for Collaborative Studies.
