Simon Aspelin

Simon Aspelin (born May 11, 1974 in Saltsjobaden) is a professional doubles player (tennis) from Sweden who turned professional in 1998. Aspelin has achieved a career-high singles ranking relevent as of March 23, 2007, of World Number 436 which he reached on August 17, 1998. Also relevant of March 23, 2007, Aspelin reached his career-high doubles ranking on October 10, 2005, when he became World Number 17. As of March 23, 2007, Aspelin is 24 th among the ATP doubles rankings. A memorable part of Aspelin's career was when he and doubles partner Todd Perry were playing in the 2006 Wimbledon Championships men's doubles quarterfinals as the eighth-seeded doubles team against third-seeded Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor. Knowles and Nestor won the match by winning the final set 23-21. Aspelin has won (as of March 23, 2007) $US946,376 in prize money and six career doubles titles.
