Silwad is located 7.5 miles to the north of Ramallah at Lat:31° 58' 60N Long:35° 16' 0E. Three main families inhabit Silwad; Hamed, Hammad and Ayyad. Silwad is open to unexpected raids by the Israeli military due to their presence all around the town. There is an Israeli military outpost on Tall Asur the highest point in occupied Palestine. It is located right next to Silwad. One of the largest Jewish settlements is located half a mile away, Ofra, and due to its presence all the residents of Silwad are forced to take a route 45 minutes longer just to get to Ramallah which used to take only 10 minutes to get there.
