Silvershell beach
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Silvershell Beach is the community swimming beach in Marion, Massachusetts. It is on the shores of Buzzards Bay, which is immediately west of Cape Cod. This is a sea water beach with full lifeguard service during the summer months (July and August).
Buzzards Bay is protected from the open Atlantic Ocean by Cape Cod, therefore, there is minimal surf activity on Silvershell Beach. It is safe for swimming, as there is not much surf and rip current. The temperature of the water is also warmer than that of the open ocean.
Silvershell Beach is the location for the annual Marion Independence Day Fireworks display and band concert.
Silvershell Beach is not officially a nude swimming area. Everyone is expected to wear proper swimming attire. The nearest nude beach is Herring Cove in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Although Silvershell Beach is open to anyone, you must have either a resident parking permit or a guest parking permit to park a car in the parking lot. Anyone who walks or rides a bicycle is welcome to use Silvershell Beach without having to worry about a parking permit.
