Silveran Kanan (called "Greenhands" before his father named him) was the son of a Kagonesti elf named Anaya and first Speaker of the Suns Kith-Kanan in the fictional series of Dragonlance novels. He was a full-blooded elf, although his elven blood was mixed, whereas his half-brother and half-sister Ulvian and Verhanna were half-elves. He would become the second Speaker of the Sun, after his father died.
Silveran had wide shoulders, a large forehead, and was tall. He had a light skin color. His hair was yellow and he had green eyes. His other facial features were broad, with the exception of his lips, which were quite slim, albeit full.

[edit] Arrival in Qualinesti
Anaya's Tree gave "birth" to Silveran. This happened by unknown means, however Anaya was pregnant with Silveran at the time of her death and becoming a tree. In his travels, he inadvertently helped nearly everyone he met. He stumbled upon Verhanna, his sister, and a battle between Kith-Kanan (his father) and Drulethen. Drulethen was eventually beheaded by Silveran in that battle.
Silveran was taken to Qualinost with his father and there Kith-Kanan named him and proclaimed him heir to the Qualinesti title of Speaker of the Sun. He began his education at this point as well, as it was needed to become Speaker. Ulvian, his brother, was very, very jealous and angry at Silveran becoming Speaker. Ulvian believed it should have been his. So Ulvian twisted Silveran's mind to believe that his father was Drulethen, causing Silveran to strike Kith-Kanan with a hammer.
[edit] Becoming Speaker
Kith-Kanan lapsed into a coma, and Silveran was arrested. However, while dying, Kith-Kanan announced Silveran the Speaker and pardoned Ulvian. He died before Silveran could hear his last words, which were the names of Kith-Kanan's first wife and Silveran's mother, Anaya.
Silveran then was made the second Speaker of the Sun and, in accordance with his father's wishes, let Ulvian leave. He ruled similarly to his father and kept his beliefs as well.
[edit] The Rose Rebellion
Silveran tried to stay out of the Rose Rebellion conflict on Ergoth. His niece, Vixa, traveled to pick up the representatives of the Qualinesti there. Vinas Solamnus asked the Qualinesti if they would help, but the request was denied and the Qualinesti stayed out. Once Solamnia was in place, The Swordsheath Scroll was signed by Silveran and Solamnus.
Following the Rose Rebellion, nothing is known of Silveran (or any other Speakers) until Solostaran Kanan.
