Silsand

Silsand is a village in the municipality of Lenvik, Norway with a population (2005) of 1,271.

The Village were until the bridge replaced the ferry in 1972 consisting of nothing more that a few dozen houses. With the building of the Gisund Bridge and the change in demografics in the rural areas of Norway the population has grown rather rapidly since the early 80s. Most of the new inhabitants coming from other smaller villages in the Midt-Troms area.

Silsand is now considered a suburban area to Finnsnes.

During the 80s there were built a new school, an indoor sports hall and a treatment centre for mental health.

Silsand is the home of the FK Senja football club.
