Silla, Valencia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Silla is a place in the province of Valencia, Spain.

"Silla" means chair in the Spanish language.

In Silla the original language is Catalan, most commonly known in this part of the Iberian Peninsular as Valencià. Two different names to refer to a language. The ethimology of Silla is not known for sure where it is coming from. Some say that it comes from the Arab Sila, other from the Latin language and others from Catalan meaning "island". From these three theories the most commonly accepted is that it comes from the Latin language as it is proved that there it was a roman cellar where the town is situated now.
