Silili

Silili is a figure in Babylonian mythology. It is the divine mare, the king of all horses. In the Epic of Gilgamesh she is referred to as: 'Mother, goddess' Silili.

In Chapter VI-(Tablet 6)-Epic of Gilgamesh, Ishtar opens speaking of Gilgamesh cleaning and readying himself-for his continuing journey. For his hard working Stallion, she exhorts Silili: to 'wail continually' , for the life of the hard working stallion. Salili is named in Chapter VI, line 57 as "Mother, goddess Si-li-li"-{AMA(umma) d. Si.li.li).
