Silent Invasion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Silent Invasion was a black and white comic book that was published by Renegade Press between 1986 and 1988. It was done by Larry Hancock, who wrote it and Michael Cherkas who drew it.

The story was set in the early 1950's and combined McCarthy era cold war type paranoia with flying saucers and alien abductions. It followed the adventures of Matt Sinkage, newspaper reporter and main character as he tries to solve the conspiracy and the powerful people trying to stop him.

Black and white comic books were quite popular in the mid 1980's after the success of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and most of them were done by smaller publishers. Unfortunately most of them were out of print by the mid 1990's after the big comic book boom was over, and The Silent Invasion went too.

There is a web site at www.silentinvasion.com describing the series, and how it was reprinted in various forms.
