Silecroft
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The village of Silecroft in Cumbria is in the parish of Whicham. It is situated between the towns of Millom and Bootle, and also neighbours the towns of Haverigg, Kirksanton and Whitbeck. There is a nine hole golf course which has two tees per hole making it an eighteen hole course. The only pub in the village, The Miners Arms, has a local atmosphere and great pub food, and in the colder months a welcoming warm log fire. Bed and breakfast is also available. Horse trekking is also available and a caravan and campsite for those who want to enjoy the scenery a little longer and visit one of Cumbria's cleanest beaches.
Kirksanton is the next village down about a mile or so away. Kirksanton has a couple of good places to stay for bed and breakfast. Black Combe House, named after the nearby summit, offers a brilliant breakfast made by Ed and wonderfully-designed en-suite bedrooms (all with DVDs) designed by Dot. Stay with Dot and Ed to experience true hospitality and a friendly welcome.
The King Billy pub is good for food and also a bed for the night.
