On some Unix-like platforms, SIGLOST is the signal sent to computer programs when a file lock is lost. The symbolic constant for SIGLOST is defined in the header file signal.h
. Symbolic signal names are used because signal numbers can vary across platforms.
[edit] Etymology
SIG is a common prefix for signal names. LOST refers to a lost file lock.
[edit] Usage
SIGLOST is sent to a process when a file lock is lost. This may occur, for example, when an NFS server reboots and forgets about a file lock.
