Sidney DeWayne

Sidney DeWayne, also known as Sid 'Uncle Jamz' Johnson, is a songwriter who co-wrote The Deele's " Two Occasions". In addition, Johnson co-wrote Midnight Star's ballad classic "Slow Jam" with Babyface in the early eighties. Johnson has earned BMI awards for "Two Occasions" by The Deele and Field Mob's "Sick Of Being Lonely". He has co-written, produced or executive produced Billboard charting singles for Manchild, The Boys, Shalamar, The MAC Band, Dynasty, Renaizzance, Next, Field Mob and Suthern Klick plus several choice album cuts for Babyface, Midnight Star, Ron Banks of The Dramatics, Usher and Monica, The Whispers and Field Mob, plus the SOUL FOOD Soundtrack. His works have appeared on seven RIAA gold albums, five platinum albums and four multi-platinum albums.He now heads a multi-faceted entertainment company that does songwriting, record production, entertainment consultation and management consultation called M.E.C.A.P. www.mecap.net

Years later, he would be credited as a co-writer of Mariah Carey's We Belong Together, when Mariah would resing portions of "Two Occasions". On August 30, 2006 in NYC at the Roseland Ballroom, the BMI Urban Music Awards were held. Johnson received four awards as a writer and publisher on Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together". Long-time friend and collaborator Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds was also feted as an icon with Antonio 'L.A.' Reid. Mariah Carey was on hand at the event along with several other music stars.
