Sidharthnagar

Siddharthnagar is a new district formed in late 1980s from partition of Basti of Uttar Pradesh. It is located on the international border of Nepal and in India it near by Bihar border after Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh. The total population (according to 2001 census of India) of the district is 2,038,598 (with Male-1,047,573 and Female-991,025) and the literacy rate is 43.97%. [1] The main tourist place is Kapilavastu, the kingdom of father of Lord Buddha, in his name only the district name has been adopted.
