Side of a Bullet is Nickelback's seventh and last single on the album All The Right Reasons and a tribute song to Dimebag Darrell who was shot on stage while performing in Columbus, Ohio. The complete lyrics for Side of a Bullet focus on the murder, and its aftermath, of Dimebag Darrell.
The guitar solo is by Dimebag from the Far Beyond Driven era. It was sent to Nickelback by Dimebag's wife and his brother Vinnie Paul. At first Nickelback wanted to have Vinnie Paul playing on the track but he refused by stating that Nickelback's drummer Daniel Adair performed as well as he could. Chad Kroeger, Nickelback's singer/guitarist, said that when he performs this song he actually feels that Dimebag still has a presence on the stage.
Although not officially released as a single by the band, the song has received some radio play on certain rock stations across the U.S. It is currently charting on the U.S. active rock chart.
However, on March 11th-12th, 2007, on Ultimate-guitar.com, Nickelback announced that Side of a Bullet is going to be the last single of the "All The Right Reasons" Album. Here is the article: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/nickelbacks_single_dimebag_tribute.html
