Sibylla of Armenia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sibylla (ca. 1240-1290) was the daughter of Queen Isabella of Armenia and king Hethum I of Armenia. She was married to Bohemond VI of Antioch. When he died, she took over the regency for her son Bohemond VII, who was fourteen years old at that point. The regency was also claimed by Hugh I of Jerusalem, but she retained her position. When Bohemund died, he was succeeded by his sister Lucia of Tripoli. Since the people of Tripoli were not pleased with having a foreign ruler, they offered Sibylla the county of Tripoli. This offer was withdrawn later and Lucia became princess and countess. Sibylla then withdrew to her brother Leo's court in Armenia.
