[edit] History

After the Mongol invasion of Europe in the 1240s, Batu Khan's brother Shayban took control of the north eastern edge of the Ulus (realm) of Jochi, controlling Mansi, Khanty and Nenets lands and founded the Khanate of Sibir. The khans were usually selected from descendants of Shayban and possibly Orda.

During the 1450s Prince Muhammad Shaybani of Siberia founded the Uzbek Khanate from the remains of the Timurid Empire after which there were two Khanates controlled by the descendants of Shayban.
