[edit] Yakumo Mutsu's Fighting Style

To everyone who has ever seen the anime Shura No Toki; the "Mutsu Enmei Ryu" fighting style is, in reality, Kyokushinkai Karate, the style inveted by Masatatsu Oyama. To find out more about that particular style, you can look up right here on Wikipedia. Read the article on that particular style of Karate, and if possible, watch videos of its Sparring matches and other demonstrations. Then watch the anime again. A lot of the throws Yakumo and sons use in that anime ressemble what one learns in Judo (elements of which were incorporated into Kyokushin). Most of his strikes can be found universally in all Karate styles, and many of his kicks come straight ouf ot Tae Kwan do. And yes, like all Karate styles, a lot of the dodging Yakumo does comes straight of one of the many traditional Okinawan styles.

Pardon my lack of formality here, but, the Mutsu Enmei Ryu style is just Karate being presented under a different name. The style in question, is Kyokushin, which is kind of funny because the begining of the anime takes place 500 years before Kyokushin was even invented. lol.
