Shuvee Handicap

The Shuvee Handicap is a race for thoroughbred horses open to fillies and mares, age three and up. who are willing to race one mile on the dirt. A Grade II event, it offers a purse of $150,000, and is held at Belmont Park each May. The Shuvee is one of the first preps for the Breeders' Cup Distaff.
Named after the great racing filly, Shuvee (winner of the 1969 Fillies Triple Crown), this race was won in 1988 by the undefeated Personal Ensign. Sky Beauty won it in 1994.
