The Shula Bowl is a yearly college football game between the Florida Atlantic Owls and Florida International University Golden Panthers. The game's winner receives a traveling trophy, named the Don Shula Award, for a year. The game and trophy are named after former Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula, to whom each school's first head coach has previous ties. FAU's head coach Howard Schnellenberger was a former assistant of Shula in the 1970s and FIU's former head coach Don Strock was a former player under Shula in the 1970s and 1980s.
Currently, FAU leads the all-time series four games to one. FAU won the first three games played in the series, lost to FIU in 2005, and won the most recent game in 2006.
