Shuichi Nakatsu

Shuichi Nakatsu (中津 秀一 Nakatsu Shūichi) is a fictional character in the manga series Hana-Kimi (shorthand for Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (花ざかりの君たちへ)) by Hisaya Nakajo. He's considered to be an important secondary character in the series.

Shuichi's a classmate of Izumi Sano and Mizuki Ashiya, and the trio frequently got together to participate in Osaka High's activities. Alternatively, they hang around with the rest of their group. Being a loud and brash boy, Shuichi offers a contrast to the stoic Izumi. This contrast is deliberate, for he soon develops feelings for Mizuki. However, he thought that she's a guy, due to her disguise, and so thought that he was a gay himself.

Like Izumi, Shuichi's a sportsman, a member of the soccer team. His career was once under threat when he was falsely accused of cheating during an exam. Luckily, with the help of the three dorm leaders, he managed to clear his name.

Although that was the case, usually, he's on rather poor terms with Minami Nanba, the student leader in charge of his dorm. Frequently, he would be asked to shut up by Minami during dorm meetings. Also, he's often kicked in the head by Hokuto Umeda, the school doctor (and Minami's uncle).

Hailing from the city of Osaka, Shuichi speaks with a distinct Kansai accent, which adds to his reputation as a joker. On top of that, he's often seen as a glutton among his group of friends, although Mizuki sometimes joins him in ordering big portions of food.
