[edit] ArbCom elections

After making 2 votes in the ArbCom elections, I decided to abstain from all further voting, because it makes me feel sick, just thinking about all the (friendly??) competition. Isn't the purpose here to build a good encyclopedia? Then why is it that more and more policies and contradictory guidelines are being proposed every day. All this is just grinding Wikipedia to a halt and the brakes are being applied by all the bureaucracy and red tape. Every candidate says that he/she will improve the efficiency of the ArbCom process, but I'm not so sure. Isn't that what the previous candidates had also promised. I know, most of you won't agree with me. "ArbCom is necessary to resolve cases" you may say. But then why don't we have a single streamlined process instead of so many such "case resolving committees" (MedCom, RfC, ArbCom)

[edit] Wikipedians leaving

So many users are leaving nowadays (Carbonite, El_C, freestylefrappe, Radiant!). This makes me wonder how we will acheive our ultimate goal of creating a great encyclopedia if we keep compelling users, through our actions and words, to leave if they have committed the slightest of mistakes. We have begun to believe in perfectionism and nothing less than that is acceptable. It makes me sick enough that I want to leave myself. We should lighten up, people, have a bit of a laugh and lay off really harassing users. The goal of the project is to build a great encyclopedia, but that of the community, as it is of every community, is to foster relationships, not cause them to fester.

Friend, why be annoyed over human nature? Politics and rivalry are common behavior - you cannot extricate it from any human activity without altering our DNA. Also, Wikipedia is a continuously evolving project - people will come and will go as their lives dictate. User issues, be it of friendship or rivalry are entirely pointless here.
