Check out quadratic equation. Basically the rule states that the root of a quadratic equation are as follows:
x_{1,2}=\frac{-b \pm \sqrt {b^2-4ac\  }}{2a}

There really isn't any reason to duplicate the information found at quadratic equation here. A link there is the appropriate way of providing the mathematics and derivation of the formula; this article should focus on the biography of Shridhara. -- Jonel | Speak 12:03, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
