Shryke

Shrykes are fictional creatures derived from the Edge Chronicles, a series of books created by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell.
Shrykes are fearsome bird people that are nomadic and live in roosts, the female shryke leader known as the roost mother aided by her roost sisters (all the female shrykes). The female shrykes acknowledge each other as sisters, but see their puny males as burdens they need for the survival of their race.
Shrykes have hard golden eyes, murderous curved beaks, beautiful elaborate plumage and dangerous talons. Shrykes can not fly since they do not have wings, and they are known to be deadly in battle and treacherous in business dealings.
