Shroomish (キノココ Kinokoko?, Kinococo in original Japanese language versions) is a fictional species from the Pokémon franchise. Most Shroomish live in dark areas deep within forests. They live in damp soil and consume compost from rotted leaves, especially after rainstorms. They will often hide under fallen leaves, but if a Shroomish senses danger, it will shake its head to release toxic spores.
Shroomish's design is based on mushrooms.
Shroomish's name is derived from mushroom and the suffix -ish, "is like". Its Japanese name is a combination of 茸 (kinoko), mushrooms, and 子 (ko), child.

[edit] Biological characteristics
Shroomish resembles a very large mushroom. It is brown in color and has green spots all over its body. It seems its facial expression is a frown. It has small feet protruding from the bottom of its body.
[edit] Availability
Wild Shroomish can only be found in Petalburg Woods in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. They are rare, but more common than Slakoth. Shroomish evolves into Breloom, a unique Grass/Fighting Dual Type, at Level 23. It can also be snagged in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.
[edit] In the trading card game
Shroomish has four cards in circulation in America as of now. They are seen in EX Ruby and Sapphire, EX Sandstorm, EX Emerald, and EX Deoxys. What is interesting to note about Shroomish cards is that they all feature resistance to the water-type, but all four of them accompanying Breloom cards lose that resistance.
[edit] In the anime
In the Pokémon anime Episode 285, Taming of the Shroomish, Ash Ketchum and his friends help to save a group of Shroomish from being killed when the old mansion that they live in is about to be torn down. Shroomish made a minor appearance in Episode 287, A Bite To Remember, where it was captured by Team Rocket. Later, in Episode 358, A Shroomish Skirmish, Team Rocket angers a group of wild Shroomish when they steal their food. The Shroomish all evolve into Breloom, and the Pokémon proceed to chase the trio. Ash Ketchum's party gets involved, and the whole group is separated when the Breloom perform a group Mach Punch. May's Torchic evolves into a Combusken and fights the leader of the Breloom. Evenly matched, the two Pokémon eventually call a truce and peace is restored.
