Shrek The Halls is a new ABC special, premiering in the holiday season of 2007, around December 2007. The original cast of Shrek will participate in the special. The special is supposed to be 30 minutes long. It features the characters from Shrek putting their own spin on holiday traditions. Art Director Peter Zaslav has revealed that the special will revisit all the old characters, with only one or two new characters ("we are revisiting some old environments, and all the core groups of characters"). Shrek The Halls is being shown between Shrek The Third and Shrek 4, so is presumed to be aired at either Christmas 2008 or 2009, and is aimed at being visually and in terms of the story, as good as any of the cinema-released Shrek movies. It is hoped to be shown for 15 years every Christmas after its original premiere. So far one picture of the special has been released by Dreamworks, and the plotline is as of yet unknown.
