Talk:Short track motor racing

[edit] Merge request with Dirt track racing in the U.S.

I wanted all people involved to be aware of the duplication of effort. The Dirt track racing in the US article is a subset of the short track motor racing article (almost without exception - How many dirt tracks are greater than 1 mile?). I have added to both an excellent reference that I have used to find tracks while I was on vacation far across the U.S. There needs to be some thought put into how to deal with the problem that I have uncovered. Should there be 2 articles: dirt track racing in the US and pavement racing in the US? I cannot think of any other surfaces since board track racing is dead. Any other suggestions?

The short track racing article needs to either be: 1) world-wide, or 2) have US put in its title.

I created several Wisconsin track articles, which are categoried under Category:Motor racing venues in Wisconsin. I went to 16 short tracks in Wisconsin this year, and free use images are available on my flickr account here if you feel especially energetic. You can find out about Wisconsin tracks at www.racingonline.com and www.racingwisconsin.com. These lists will take a huge amount of effort to create in my opinion.
