Shotaro "Macky" Makisumi

Shotaro Makisumi (Japanese:Makisumi Shōtarō; commonly known as "Macky") was born March 21, 1990 in Ube, Yamaguchi, Japan. He is best known for setting several world records for speedcubing, or quickly solving the Rubik's Cube.

As of 2007, Macky lives in Arcadia, California, and is a junior at the Polytechnic School in Pasadena, California. He currently holds three Asian records with the World Cube Association. He has held seven world records in the past.

In addition to speedcubing, he is involved in juggling and mathematics competitions. He has been invited twice to the USA Mathematical Olympiad, a prestigious math competition for high school students, and has attended Canada/USA Mathcamp for two summers.
