Shortlands is a ward of the London Borough of Bromley. Located less than a mile from Bromley town centre it has good transport links to London, mainly to London Blackfriars and London Victoria. Shortlands is famous for very little, apart from the fact that Enid Blyton lived there in the later stages of her life.

There are several shops near to the railway station, as well as award winning restaurants such as the Shortlands Tandoori, FuDo Chinese Takeaway and the Shortland(s) Restaurant, named as the best Kebab Restaurant in London recently by Time Out magazine.

An interesting fact about Shortlands is that the Greenwich meridian passes straight through it (especially on Warren Avenue) and provides a slightly less famous place for people to be able to stand on both the East and the West.

Near the station is the Shortlands Tavern where many locals gather. Main schools in Shortlands are Valley Primary School, Clare House Primary School and Bishop Challoner. On top of Shortlands hill towards the Chinese Garage is the rather inconspicuous Shortlands library, linked with other libraries of the Bromley borough.

Situated near Ravensbourne station is the Shortlands Golf Club for public use. The club was formed in 1894 and is open to this day. Other interesting facts about Shortlands: Perched on the hill looking over the valley is the Shortlands Synagogue for the use of Jewish citizens. The river Ravensbourne runs beneath the heart of Shortlands and can be seen from the recreation ground nearby.

On the border of Shortlands and the London Borough of Lewisham is the Millwall FC training ground where the football team regularly play.
