Shoreline School District

The Shoreline School District is the school district in an established residential community north of Seattle and includes the cities of Shoreline and Lake Forest Park in the U.S. state of Washington. Families new to the Puget Sound region settle in the area reportedly due to the quality of its schools.

The 65,000-member communities are predominantly middle-class with a high percentage of college graduates and professional people. The district's student population is 6.8% black, 17.6% Asian, 1.3% Native American, 5.4% Hispanic, and 68.9% white.

Parental involvement is high with the Parent Teacher Association one of the most active in the state. The district encourages parent participation at all levels.

Shoreline has had strong support with bonds from the community. Voters strongly supported it in 1984, 1988, 1994, and every year for the past three. Additionally, a new bond was passed in 2006 that awards millions of dollars for a Laptop-technology integration program at the high, middle and elementary school level (for Echo Lake grade 4, 5, and 6). High School Students were given a Apple MacBook for an insurance of $70. All other students were given an Apple iBook G4 for $60 Insurance.

  • Briarcrest Elementary School
Briarcrest enrolls approximately 375 students in grades K-6 and its mascot is the bulldog.
  • Brookside Elementary School
Brookside enrolls approximately 480 K-6 grade students and its mascot is the bluejay.
  • Echo Lake Elementary School
Echo Lake enrolls approximately 400 K-6 grade students and its mascot is the eagle.
  • Highland Terrace Elementary School
Highland Terrace enrolls approximately 360 K-6 grade students and its mascot is the orca.
  • Lake Forest Park Elementary School
Lake Forest Park enrolls approximately 400 students in grades K-6 and its mascot is the dolphin.
  • Meridian Park Elementary School
Meridian Park enrolls approximately 570 students in grades K-6 and its mascot is the cheetah.
  • North City Elementary School
North City enrolls approximately 375 students in grades K-6 and its mascot is the tiger (same as Einstein Middle School). As of 2007 North City Elementary is expected to close for the 2007-2008 school year.
  • Parkwood Elementary School
Parkwood enrolls approximately 380 students in kindergarten through sixth grade and its mascot is the panthers.
  • Ridgecrest Elementary School
Ridgecrest enrolls approximately 310 K-6 grade students and its mascot is the Rams.
  • Sunset Elementary School
Sunset enrolls approximately 375 K-6 grade students and its mascot is the shark. As of 2007 Sunset Elementary is expected to close for the 2007-2008 school year.
  • Syre Elementary School
Syre enrolls approximately 500 students in grades K-6 and its mascot is the Wildcats.

  • Einstein Middle School
Einstein is located in northwestern Shoreline and enrolls approximately 825 students in grades 7-8. Most of its graduates go to Shorewood High School. Its mascots are Albert Einstein and the tiger.
  • Kellogg Middle School
Kellogg is located in Shoreline and enrolls approximately 690 students in grades 7-8. Most of its graduates go to Shorecrest High School. Its mascot is Dwight the Knight.
