Shopping Spree is a pricing game on the American television game show The Price Is Right. Debuting on January 17, 1996, this game is played for four prizes, each worth between $400 and $3,000.

[edit] Gameplay

The contestant is given a specified amount - usually between $3,000 and $5,000 - and shown four prizes. One at a time, the contestant selects items he thinks will help exhaust the spending account.

If the contestant exceeds the spending limit after his third choice, he wins all four prizes.

[edit] Trivia

  • Shopping Spree is effectively the reverse of Credit Card. As with Credit Card, only one combination - in this case, the three most expensive prizes - wins; the fourth item will guarantee a loss and is often significantly lower in price than the other three.
  • This game is in effect the exact same game as Danger Price, with the "danger price" being the low price.
  • Early playings of Shopping Spree showed the amount of money the contestant needed to spend on an orange LED display instead of on a card. Also, the large green LED display kept track of how much the contestant had already spent, not how much he still needed to spend.
