Shootenanny! (pronounced 'shü-t&n-"a-nE) is a 2003 album by the band Eels. The name comes from a neologism coined by Eels frontman Mark Oliver Everett for "a social gathering at which participants engage in folk singing and sometimes dancing, but mostly the shooting of guns." "Shootenanny" comes from the similar and more familiar hootenanny, which has the same meaning except that the firing of guns is usually not involved.
