Shoot me Again is the seventh song on Metallica's album, St. Anger. Its lyrics are from the point of view of either James Hetfield himself or the entire band. At the time of release, Metallica, who had not released an original album in six years, was receiving much criticism, even from their own fans. The song states that they are not backing off yet and that they are making a good effort, once again, to get back on top, as demonstrated by the lyric "I won't go away/Right here I'll stay". Being "shot again" symbolizes Metallica being criticized. The last verse "wake the sleeping giant" goes hand in hand with "I bit my tongue...", basically stating that they will let their hate and desire to fire back fade, or "sleep". Lars Ulrich's struggle against Napster is also a theme in this song, as the drummer asked in the documentary if what they did made any difference.
