Sho Ito (伊藤 翔 Ito Sho; born July 24, 1988 in Kasugai, Aichi Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese football player who plays for Grenoble Foot 38 in France and represented Japan's Under-20 team at the 2006 AFC Youth Championship. Ito is dubbed the "Japanese Thierry Henry" for his size, technical abilities and pace, and is the first Japanese soccer player to go straight from high school to a European club.[1]
In August 2006, Ito received a trial from English club Arsenal, where he impressed manager Arsene Wenger.[2] However, his work permit application fell through, and in January 2007, he signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Grenoble, a club owned by Index Corp, a Japanese mobile content provider.[3][4]
