Shmuel Auerbach

Shmuel Aurbach is a prominent Haredi rabbi living in Jerusalem, Israel. He is regarded as one of the leading non-Hasidic Lithuanian rabbis today. His views and declarations are regarded as highly authoritative by most Ashkenazi Haredi Jews living in Israel. He is the son of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Aurbach who was likewise regarded as a leading sage.
Rabbi Auerbach is considered by Haredi Jews to be one of the most important religious authorities for Haredi Ashkenazi Jews. He lives in the Jerusalem neighbourhood of Bayit Vegan.
Rabbi Auerbach is a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah that guides the Degel HaTorah Israeli political party, and the Rosh Yeshiva ("dean") of the Maalos HaTorah yeshiva. He also heads a school for religious girls in Jerusalem.
