[edit] Introduction

Aiyo, The name is Gustavo Adolfo. I usually just go off by this Internet acronym ShinFuYux 神冬極度. Which literally means ‘The Extreme Winter God” in Japanese. I was born and raised in Cartago, Colombia, moved to the United States when I was 9. Since then, I’ve been pretty much raised in both Latin American and American cultures. I still love my Colombian Food, nothing can’t ever beat it. But I love Rap Music, mixed in with some European Techno.

Living here in the United States, has done a dramatic change towards my life. Besides the fact that I've learned a new language, which is English, of course. To seeing other cultures, ideas and opinions about things. I currently work here and there, saving up some money to go to College or University. I'm still with the whole idea, since the age of 14, that I want to become a 3D Animator/Graphic Artist. Even though this dream will cost me a load of money to achieve.

  • Martial Arts

When I was young, I used to live near one of my uncles. His son, Maurizio came over to my house everyday, he use to annoy the living crap out of me; bragging that he is better at one thing and the other. Then, one day, he took up Karate. He bragged to the family how he knew how to fight and such. I guess jealousy came over it and it made me take karate, also.

But, coming to the united states was my down fall. I had to stop taking Karate class and concentrate in learning English. But over the years, my friends re-introduced me to the world of Martial Arts by giving me these movies, video games that talked about Martial Arts. My friends and I, also had long discussion about Martial Arts. The more I talked about it, the more I fell in love with it.

Nowadays, I’m reading so deeply about Martial Arts. Sometimes I feel like those Monks that goes deep into the woods and stay there years and years alone, trying to perfect a certain style. All they do is just work with what they got; reading books, practicing by themselves, using anything for a reference to improve their knowledge on how to fight.

There's a quote I read once in Bruce Lee’s Tao of Jeet Kune Do, "Use only that which works, and take it from any place you can find it." From that, I use pretty much anything that I see that works for me to develop a certain style. You may find it funny or weird but I've used books, videos, people I've met, experience, even video games to teach myself something I haven't seen or read, into improving my knowledge of the world of martial arts.
