Shizo Kanakuri

Shizo Kanakuri was a Japanese marathon runner, best known for dissapering during the Marathon in the 1912 Summer Olympics. He had become so tired he joined a nearby group in Sollentuna, having a drink. After this he booked a hotel for the night and left for Japan a few days later. All without notifing the competition organizers.

In 1966 he was contacted by the Swedish Television and offerd to complete his run. He did accept and completed the Marathon in 54 years, 8 months, 6 days, 8 hours, 32 minutes and 20.3 seconds.
