Shiroiwa Junior High School

Shiroiwa Junior High School (城岩中学校 Shiroiwa Chūgakkō) is a fictional Japanese school in the novel Battle Royale, as well as in the manga and film of the same name, in which the fates of the 42 students of Shiroiwa 9th Grade Class B are documented.
In the series, Shiroiwa is a public school operated by the fictional town of Shiroiwa (the novel and manga set the town in Kagawa Prefecture, while the film sets the town in Kanagawa Prefecture), which is designated in Japanese as "Shiroiwa-cho" (城岩町 Shiroiwa-chō). As with real-life Japanese junior high schools, Shiroiwa covers grades 7 through 9.
In all versions, Shiroiwa has a mandatory school uniform policy, like most Japanese junior high schools.
In the novel and manga, boys wear black gakurans, while girls wear blue sailor suits.
In the film, students wear British-style school uniforms; boys wear white oxford shirts, dark blue ties with gold "S" ornaments, khaki trousers, and khaki coats. Girls wear white oxford shirts with Peter Pan collars, red ties with gold "S" ornaments, khaki skirts, and khaki coats.
Masao Hayashida is the head teacher of Class 3-B. In the novel, Mr. Yamamoto served as 3-B's English teacher, while Kazuko Okazaki taught literature to 3-B. In the film, Kitano served as Class 3-B's teacher in the 7th grade (when 3-B was 1-B) until Yoshitoki Kuninobu stabbed him in the buttocks; Kitano resigned after the incident.
