Shire of Litchfield

The Shire of Litchfield in the Northern Territory is situated south of Darwin and Palmerston. It includes the areas of Humpty Doo, Howard Springs and Berry Springs. It is named after Fred Litchfield, a Territory pioneer, who explored areas of the Northern Territory from Escape Cliffs on the Timor Sea to the Daly River in 1864.
A present member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly, Gerry Wood, is a former President of the Shire Council.
