Shirdi is a city and a municipal council situated in Rahata Tahasil in Ahmadnagar district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is located at 19° 77′ N, 74° 48′ E East Longitude. It falls on Ahmednagar-Manmad State Highway No.10 at 83 Km. from Ahmednagar, and 15 Km. from Kopargaon. It (the Ahmednagar -Manmad road) was a very busy route in the old times. It is located at 185 Km. to the East from Western Seashore line.

It has acquired fame as a place of pilgrimage because the Shirdi Sai Baba lived there and took MahaSamadhi there. People of all religions flock there; Some Muslims, Hindu and Sikhs consider him a saint with miraculous powers.

Shri Sai Baba is revered as one of the greatest saints ever seen in India, endowed with unprecedented powers, and is worshipped as a God incarnate. (SAI meaning Sakshaat Ishwar) - GOD THE ABSOLUTE

This mysterious Fakir first made HIS appearance in Shirdi as a youth and remained there throughout His long life. HE transformed the lives of those who met Him and continuously is doing so even after HIS Samadhi in 1918 for those whose hearts are touched by his love and who pray and call Him at any emergency in life for his blessings.

Baba stated that His mission is to “Give Blessings” without discrimination to all, and He proves it in myriad ways by healing the sick, saving lives, protecting the vulnerable, averting accidents, granting offspring, facilitating financial gain, bringing people into harmony within themselves and with each other and, above all, in effecting the spiritual evolution and transformation of those who came to him as the last resort.

Shirdi is located approximately 296 Kilometers from Mumbai (Bombay) City in India. Shirdi is not on railway map. To reach 'Shirdi' via railway one has to reach 'Manmad' station which is 83 Km. from 'Shirdi Village' or 'Nashik' city which is 119 Km. from 'Shirdi'. or 'Nagarsol'.From there one may reach 'Shirdi Village' by taking bus or taxi.

Roadways Services Shirdi Can be reached by taking a Bus from any of the following cities in Maharashtra State (India). Also buses to the same cities, depart from the Shirdi Bus Station.

As of 2001 India census^GRIndia, Shirdi had a population of 26,169. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Shirdi has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 62%. In Shirdi, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
