Shir Goldd (シルカ Shilka?), sometimes known as Shir of the Wind, is a fictional character in Sega's popular role-playing game Phantasy Star II and its subsequent remake Phantasy Star Generation 2, as well as the spin-off title Shilka's Adventure. She is a thief living on the planet Motavia.

[edit] Phantasy Star II and Abilities

Like most of the supporting case of the game, Shir is not given very much background information during or after her recruitment. She is said to come from a reasonably wealthy family, and that she merely steals for the thrill that it brings her. Shir, whose name can be considered to be a pun on "sure gold" (or "easy money") thus tying in with her nature, is known to merely disappear after Rolf Landale and his companions leave from a shopping establishment, only to be found later at his home in Paseo, claiming that "the wind called out to her". Usually, she will be seen to have a valuable item which she has lifted from the vendor in question.

When joining the party she says:-

"Hello, Rolf. You are just as handsome as they say. I am Shir Gold. I am a thief. I care little for peace and justice. I steal for fun; and frankly, I think your little outing will be packed with thrills for me. I think I'd like to go with you. Remember, I'm Shir of the wind! Nothing can catch me!"

Due too her low strength, limitation to using knives and other small blades, low defense, and minimal ability with techniques, several players will use Shir merely to steal items from shopkeepers. Indeed, theft with Shir is the only way in the game to acquire one of the most useful items -- the infamous Visiphone, with which players can save their progress at any time in the game, rather than making a trip to a Data Memory clerk. However, it should be noted that Shir also possesses the highest speed in the game, often allowing her the first turn in a combat situation. Shir's techniques are mainly connected to wind, she is the only other character than Rolf who can use the Zan technique, and in Phantasy Star Generation 2, her "Skill" attack is a large tornado that attacks all enemies. This could also be reference to the phrase she gives to Rolf every time she steals something.
