Ship-Kings of Gondor
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In J. R. R. Tolkien's literary works, the Ship-Kings was a popular name given to four successive Kings of Gondor, reigning between 830 and T.A. 1149, Tarannon Falastur, Eärnil I, Ciryandil and Hyarmendacil I. Under their rule, Gondor reached the height of it's power. By the reign of Hyarmendacil, Gondor reached from the Misty Mountains south to Umbar and from the Great Sea east of the Greenwood. No earthly power dared to challenge the power of Gondor.
However, with the ascension of Atanatar II, Gondor began her long decline in power and prestige, which was not halted until the reign of Elessar Telcontar at the beginning of the Fourth Age.
