Shintaro Hashimoto (May 11, 1892 – May 16, 1945), was a Vice Admiral in the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. From the Japanese cruiser Haguro, he commanded the Japanese naval warship force that was defeated by United Kingdom (UK) warships during the Battle of the Malacca Strait on May 16, 1945. During the battle, Haguro was hit repeatedly by torpedoes and gunfire from the UK warships, sinking Haguro and killing Hashimoto.
